What does recycled content tell you?
It means recycled feedstock is used in production. Ask for the percentage and which component it covers. The bag body, handles, closure and printing may use different materials. Confirm through supplier documentation whether a 100% claim covers the whole package or a particular layer.
Is recyclable the same thing?
No. Recyclability concerns processing after use; recycled content concerns production inputs. Material combinations, coatings, adhesives and local collection facilities can affect the outcome. Check disposal guidance in the destination country. A kraft appearance alone does not establish paper content or recyclability.
Bio-based, biodegradable and compostable
Plant-based feedstock alone does not prove compostability. For a compostable product, check whether the claim concerns home or industrial composting and whether the testing or certificate covers the actual product. It does not mean the packaging can be littered or accepted by every municipal organic-waste collection.
What should a packaging quote include?
Specify the product and weight, usable internal dimensions, quantity, print area, closure needs and destination country. State any required recycled-content percentage separately. Request material composition, applicable certification and local disposal guidance. Evaluate dimensions and carrying performance with a sample, and avoid printing unverified environmental claims.
